Winter Blues
Happy Friday! Remember when I said, I'm fired up and ready to go? Well unfortunately, that sentiment didn't last long. I think I've got a case of the winter blues - it happens to me the same time every year.
I don't wan't to sound dramatic (the feature photo does it for me), but I long for the radiant summer sun. Thankfully, we’ve had blue skies and a few hours of sunshine over the past couple of days. But still, everything around me is barren. I miss the leaves on the trees and walking barefoot in the thick carpet of green grass that covers my front yard. Last week, I went to Trader Joe’s and purchased an assortment of tulips and hyacinth for an all-natural pick me up. It looks like a mini greenhouse in here; every time I walk past my dining room table, I am reminded of the promise of spring.
Although we’ve got several inches of rain heading in our direction, I'm remarkably cheerful. Tonight I’m having dinner with some girlfriends, which is sure to be a lively affair. My husband arrives back in town tomorrow morning (after a week in Toronto) and our family will make the two + hour drive to Birmingham to see our eldest son, Addison. He’s a student/athlete at Rice University and his basketball team has traveled from Houston for a game against UAB. (Go Owls!) I can’t tell you how excited I am to see him.
And next month, I’m packing my bag and heading to the beach to bask in the sun and splash these blues away.
This morning, I actually felt a little bit of warm tropical sun on my face (while sitting at my kitchen table) when I snagged this kaftan (on sale). I'd just sat down with my laptop and my coffee in search of some new vacation pieces for our upcoming getaway. I'd barely been at the table for five minutes when I found it on The Modist. (I'd been eyeing it on another site for a while, where it's still "on sale" for almost double what I just paid.)
Ahh…“sun” and “sale”, my two favorite words.
I’ve posted a few of my favorites from the sale below.
Have a great weekend!
